Meet Our Chef
Valerie is completely immersed in a food career on the back of the 2017 season of the popular Channel 7 series My Kitchen Rules which saw Valerie and her daughter Courtney representing QLD with their Anglo-Indian heritage food straight to the Grand Final. The girls soared through the MKR competition receiving 10 out of 10’s from the judges who referred to the duo’s food as a “masterclass in spice”. Winning the MKR sauce challenge saw their own “Sweetly Spiced Sauce” on the shelves of national grocery juggernaut Coles which sold out in the first 24hrs nationally with a second batch also selling out. This demand had been unprecedented in the MKR seasons.
Valerie’s passion for cooking quality, tasty food using local producers is stronger than ever as she has run successful cooking classes, catering and dinners which she hasn’t advertised and has gained momentum from word of mouth recommendations. She is also a food writer for local magazine Village News, presenter, recipe developer for cooking demonstrations which has seen her and daughter Courtney travel Australia for Channel 7, Style Magazine, Coles, Standard Food company, Modern Women’s Expo.
Valerie is a passionate Brisbane foodie who has lived and worked in New Farm for over 20 years. She is very much part of the local community and has been a patron of the local Neighbourhood centre for many years. She is passionate about promoting Queensland’s fantastic fresh, tasty seasonal food and advocates buying local produce and products to support farmers and help local communities at every opportunity.
Valerie has outgrown her space at home and couldn’t be more excited to team with talented chefs to bring some exciting food with flair to the Bowlo at New Farm. Get ready to have your taste buds tantalized!
